Baby registry suggestions
Newborn; highly recommended
- Over the shoulder burp cloths: https://www.babylist.com/gp/tiny-kind-burp-cloth-4-pack/35698/1345380
- We used these on day 1 and now 8 months in we still use them every day
- Small burp cloths: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B1V5NNXD
- For small messes - get a few packs so you don't feel bad about wiping something up and just tossing it in the hamper to include in your regular baby laundry
- Velcro-style swaddles: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BPS1B8WB
- Sometimes the velcro can wake the baby so maybe also bring home a couple of normal swaddles from the hospital if you can in case the velcro is too much
- Dreft detergents/soaps:
- Laundry detergent: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BNWD9XHV
- Stain remover/prewash: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HPBCTY9
- Bottle/dish soap: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099NP24TB
- Diaper bag: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X3QBP6P
- Easily the best on the market. Perfect size for your delivery hospital trip for all the baby stuff, and then afterward just keep stocked and by the door for any time you need to go somewhere
- UPPAbaby Mesa car seat: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B94TJ36K
- This and the Chicco KeyFit 35 are probably the best car seat options, and we went with this one because it paired nicely with the UPPAbaby stoller (see below)
- Works for newborns all the way up to 35 lbs (~2 yr)
- Car seat mirror: https://www.babylist.com/gp/brica-360-baby-in-sight-pivot-mirror/21458/697850
- Forehead thermometer: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085WT81CB
- Gentle snip nail clippers: https://www.babylist.com/gp/fridababy-nailfrida-the-snipperclipper-set-2016/12411/18204
- Hooded towel: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CJHL34L6
- The hood helps keep the baby warm while drying and dressing
- Diaper pail: https://www.babylist.com/gp/ubbi-steel-diaper-pail/251/414134
- Seems really expensive, but is so easy to use and completely blocks the smells!
- Bottle warmer: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09PZHWH3M
- Especially if you're pumping and refrigerating/freezing extra milk
- Some kind of bottle washing solution. We installed a glass rinser in our kitchen and just scrub the bottles by hand and throw them on a drying rack, but if you can't do that then a dedicated bottle washer from Momcozy or Baby Brezza is highly recommended
- Glass rinser: https://www.homedepot.com/pep/311378331
- (No specific recommendation for a dedicated bottle washer)
- Double zipper PJs: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61bq9ympXWL._AC_UY1000_.jpg
- No specific recommendations but Carter's is always a good choice
- Having the zipper from the bottom lets you change them without taking the whole thing off
Infant and up; still highly recommended
- Zip up swaddles (starting at like 2 months): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MJXHM48
- Highly absorbent bibs (starting once they start sitting on their own): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C9ZX9C9F
- Fantastic for spit ups, runny noses, and especially once they start teething because they will drool so much you'll wonder how they're not withered up like a raisin
- UPPAbaby Cruz Stroller: https://www.babylist.com/gp/uppababy-cruz-v2-stroller/24413/1191825
- Lots of good choices in this category and honestly its one of the few things where more expensive really does mean better (usually)
- Main selling points for UPPAbaby are the really nice car seat from the same company, plus big wheels, built-in shocks, and support for bassinet if you need a bassinet in the first couple months
- If you are planning for more than one kid, then the Vista might be a better choice. It's slightly bigger and has two seat mounting spots
- Silicone feeding bibs: https://www.babylist.com/gp/aeiou-bib-2-pack/25950/1225055
- Bath thermometer: https://www.babylist.com/gp/dreambaby-room-and-bath-thermometer/21025/9196
- Formula dispenser: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MYW28QR
- Like Keurig for formula. At first it seems excessive but a couple 2am "shit no milk, I just need a couple ounces" uses and you understand. And when you eventually transition to formula it's invaluable. 4 bottles a day and they're just a button push away
Honorable mentions
- Hamper: https://www.babylist.com/gp/sprucely-large-rope-basket/38936/1532342
- Fits a trash bag, but is also machine washable. Great for keeping the little one's clothes separate from yours
- Bouncer seat: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C7KWB26
- Great when you just need to free your hands for a minute
- If you decide you want this you can have ours - Zoey will be growing out of it soon
- Hatch Rest+ 2nd Gen (night light/noise machine): https://www.babylist.com/gp/hatch-rest-2nd-gen/26361/1249891
- Can set up schedules or program different tap presets, etc.
